Santa Clarita Coalition Community Health Fair

The Santa Clarita Coalition is proud to be partnering with Healing California to host their Inaugural Community Health Fair on March 21st and 22nd, 2020. The event will take place at Wiley Canyon Elementary School in Santa Clarita.

The event is expected to serve more than 300 Santa Clarita residents. Among these residents, the Coalition expects to serve homeless children and their families, seniors, veterans, homeless individuals, the underinsured and uninsured.

Diane Green, Chair of the Santa Clarita Inaugural Health Fair, has participated in dental outreach services for decades alongside her husband, Dr. Neal Green. Recently the couple learned that many free services that Santa Clarita residents relied on had been discontinued.

The Greens learned of Healing California, a new non-profit, that provides dental, medical and vision care to California residents over a year ago. Since then they have worked with Healing California to bring free care to those in need in Santa Clarita.

Visitors to the Santa Clarita Coalition Health Fair will have access to on-site medical consultations, health screenings, health insurance enrollment and much more.

The fair is set to have 15 dental chairs and 5 vision lanes. Participants will be given new glasses on-site and same day.

The event also aims to provide health awareness and disease prevention education to encourage participants to make positive health and behavioral changes.

The Health Fair will take place at Wiley Canyon Elementary School in Newhall March 21-22, 2020. The event will open Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, March 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Set-up for the event will begin on Friday, March 20 by volunteers.

Green encourages Santa Clarita residents to attend the event, either as a volunteer or guest. To learn more about volunteering and to sign up as a volunteer, click here

“There is no better feeling than connecting with another human being who needs help. As little as an hour or two might seem like a small act of kindness, but to the individual in need, it’s everything and they don’t feel alone. I’ve seen lives transformed,” said Green. “The bridge between suffering and grace for so many that struggle is that connection with another person. It’s very powerful.”

Green is a member of the Santa Clarita Coalition. Other participating organizations include The Newhall Elementary School District. The Santa Clarita Senior Center, The Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, The Santa Clarita Child & Family Center, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, The Way Out Recovery, Santa Clarita Boys & Girls Club, Bridge To Home along with Healing California. The goal is to turn the health fair into a twice a year event, one in Newhall, the other in Canyon Country.
