Adele, her husband Iain, and daughters Kirstie and Fiona, were born in the United Kingdom and moved to Santa Clarita in 1986. Adele volunteered for the American Red Cross and became a National Disaster Volunteer, responding to National Disasters. In 1989 she accepted the position of Manager of the Santa Clarita Branch of the American Red Cross.

In 1991 Adele took the position of the Emergency Manager for the City of Santa Clarita. In addition to being responsible for many national, state and locally declared disasters the “Big One” for Adele was the 2994 Northridge Earthquake. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership, and the countless hours she spent getting Santa Clarita Back on its feet.Adele Macpherson - Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition Board Member

In 1995 in addition to being the Emergency Manager, Adele became the Community Services Superintendent overseeing the activities of the Community Services Division. The Division works in cooperation with the community residents and government agencies to enhance the quality of life in Santa Clarita.

Adele was awarded an Honorary Life time membership of the California Emergency Services Association in recognition of her many years serving in a leadership role in the Southern California Chapter, and three terms as President of the CESA State Organization.

Adele has been a member of many boards in Santa Clarita and was named Santa Clarita’s “Woman of the Year” in 2002. Adele retired after 19 years with the city but continues to serve on numerous local non- profit boards, including the SCV Disaster Coalition, HandsOn Santa Clarita, the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Foundation. Adele volunteers as a Domestic Violence Court Advocate with the SCV Domestic Violence Center.
